Community fun day raises funds for urban farm
A donation of £500 to Worcester Salvation Army will enable them to give more Christmas food parcels and children’s gifts to families who are really struggling.
Platform's Christmas Kindness Campaign has seen over £35,000 donated to help support more than 50 vital, local charities like the Salvation Army in the run-up to the festive season.
The Salvation Army work nationally and in local communities through their churches and community centres to support those who most need help. They also campaign to make sure the views of vulnerable people are heard.
Platform’s Chief Executive, Elizabeth Froude said: “The ongoing cost of living crisis is putting a huge amount of pressure on local charities, like The Salvation Army, who are seeing an increase in the number of people turning to them for their vital help and support.
“Receiving a food parcel or gift can help take the pressure off finances and hopefully enable individuals, couples or families to enjoy Christmas.”
Ruth Bullock from Worcester Salvation Army said: “On behalf of Worcester Salvation Army I would like to thank Platform Housing for the extremely generous donation of £500 in gift vouchers.
“We saw a considerable rise in need this year and continue to provide toys and food for families leading up to Christmas.
“Over 500 parcels have been distributed so far this year and Platform housing has significantly contributed to supporting these families.
