Community fun day raises funds for urban farm
As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week from February 5th to 11th, we're excited to share the profound impact of our apprenticeship programs. Our apprentices aren't just participants; they are instrumental in driving success within our organization, and we're proud to highlight their transformative journeys.
Currently, we have a cohort of 76 apprentices, constituting 4.56% of our dynamic workforce. These apprenticeships go beyond traditional job training; they represent our commitment to unlocking potential and fostering opportunities for career advancement for all.
What sets our apprenticeships apart is their inclusivity. Among our 76 apprentices, 24 are existing colleagues who have chosen to enhance their skills and knowledge further. This dedication to continuous improvement not only benefits individuals but also significantly contributes to our collective growth as a business.
We understand that career paths are diverse, and apprenticeships shouldn't follow a one-size-fits-all approach. That's why our apprenticeship programs range from entry-level (level 2) to advanced professional qualifications (level 7), ensuring that we build a workforce capable of delivering the skills needed now and in the future. Collaborating with colleges and providers across the Midlands, we've set an ambitious target of having 10% of our workforce enrolled in apprenticeships by 2026.
Dispelling stereotypes, apprenticeships at Platform are not limited to school leavers. An impressive 61% of our apprentices fall within the 20 to 29 age range, demonstrating that apprenticeships are accessible and advantageous for individuals looking to enhance their skills, regardless of their prior experience or time since leaving formal education.
One such success story is Alice Sanders, a Category Specialist and former apprentice, who shares her journey with us:
"After completing university, I came across an apprenticeship opportunity within Platform's newly established Procurement Department. Despite having no prior experience in procurement, the apprenticeship offered me the chance to learn on the job while gaining the necessary qualifications and experience."
"Two and a half years later, my role has evolved, and I'm now working as a Category Specialist after successfully completing my Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply. Platform has been incredibly supportive throughout, and I'm eager to continue advancing my career here."
We're committed to nurturing talent, fostering growth, and creating pathways for success through our apprenticeship programs. Join us in celebrating the achievements of our apprentices this National Apprenticeship Week and beyond by clicking here!
