On Wednesday 19 June we celebrated the unsung heroes who live in our communities at our annual Community Heroes Awards.

Our vision is to build a better future by investing in affordable homes, services and communities – we launched our awards programme in 2022 to highlight the work that both our customers and partners do in our local communities.

The Communities Together Award – which is given to someone who brings people together and makes everyone feel included – has been awarded to Cyd Bradford from the Lincolnshire village of Wainfleet St Mary.

Cyd has established herself as a go to person in her local community; the youngest member of the parish council she spotted a gap for families in the area and set about singlehandedly organising the community’s first ever family sports day to mark the Queen’s Jubilee year in 2022.

Cyd explained: “It feels absolutely wonderful to have been recognised for my work in bringing the local community together, particularly as I had a couple of months off at the beginning of the year due to my mental health.  It makes me feel that what I am doing is both appreciated and needed.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Marion Duffy, Chief Operations Officer at Platform Housing Group said: “Recognising and rewarding people within our communities is an important element of our work in building resilient neighbourhoods.  We live in challenging times so it is humbling to be able to say thank you to our customers and local organisations who go above and beyond to serve their local communities.  Cyd is such a community anchor and we are so proud of what she has achieved.”

The award category was sponsored by Aaron Services, part of the Sureserve Group, a heating and hot water specialist, serving clients and residents across East England and the Midlands.

David Lummis, Managing Director from Aaron Services said: “We are delighted to sponsor Platform Housing Group’s Community Heroes Awards.  We are big believers that our contracts should support the local communities that we serve.  These awards are an exceptional opportunity to recognise and celebrate those achievements alongside our partnership with Platform, fully embracing our collaborative community-first ethos.  Congratulations to Cyd!”

The awards are made possible by main sponsor Travis Perkins Managed Services, the UK’s leading supply chain and procurement solutions partner to the repairs and maintenance sector

Ben Clifford, Account Manager at Travis Perkins Managed Services said: “We are so proud to be the main event sponsors for Platform’s Community Heroes Awards for the third successive year.  Our company values align with these awards and exemplifies our commitment to social value.  Well done to all the worthy winners; its great they have been recognised and rewarded within their communities.”
