A new football club for children in Malvern has been awarded a grant to encourage local players to get involved.
Malvern United Football Club applied to our Community Chest in order to launch the sporting facility, with teams ranging from U8s to U13s. The grant comes from a funding pot for Platform customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations; applications are welcomed if their work or project directly benefits Platform customers. All applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on our Customer Voice Panel.
The funds will ensure the club has all the equipment they need including training balls and a match ball for each team, flags, cones, bibs and coaches bags.
Emma Webb, Secretary at Malvern United Football Club said: “We are a brand new club so the funding we have received from Platform Housing Group is absolutely invaluable to us. Our aim is to ensure that all those who attend have fun, develop a love of football, learn new skills and make friends. Inclusivity is also really important to us as we have children attending who have additional needs. Our heartfelt thanks to Platform!”
Marion Duffy, Chief Operations Officer at Platform Housing Group said: “We wish Malvern United Football Club all the best in its new venture; assisting young people to develop their motor skills, their communication skills as well as team building will be such an asset to them.”
The club will be situated around local primary and high schools so all children will have the opportunity to join.
