Postnatal depression can be debilitating and isolating which is why Platform Housing Group have teamed up with Action for Children and the Starting Well Partnership in South Worcestershire to help fund a support group through Platform Housing Groups Community Chest fund.

The group benefits mothers who have been referred by their GP and it provides them with the opportunity to socialise, improve their health and wellbeing as well as take part in yoga sessions.

£386 from the Community Chest fund has enabled the group to provide specialist toys for the families and sensory toys to support the SEND group providing new experiences together.

Kim Pouch, Starting Well Community Health Connector from Action for Children, said: “This has brought people together and the parents are so grateful for any support given. With the cost-of-living crisis, people can't afford to do what they used to but lots of families will benefit from these items. We have achieved some great partnership work over the years, and we can help these families smile.”

Marion Duffy, Platform Housing Group’s Chief Operations Officer said, “Our customers and communities feel the impact of life on many levels but it’s great to know that we are able to help with our community chest funding and partnership working. Groups such as this are a fantastic lifeline to support so many when and where it is needed.”
Platform customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for Community Chest Funding if their work or project directly benefits local Platform customers. All applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on their Customer Experience Panel.
