A brand new partnership has been formed between affordable homes provider Platform Housing Group and developer HarperCrewe, whch will provide an opportunity for local people to both buy and rent in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire.

The first homes from HarperCrewe’s latest development off Spire Road were released for sale in an exclusive pre-launch event earlier this month. Overall, 300 homes will be built, of which 91 will be affordable and managed by Platform.

Built with energy efficiency in mind, HarperCrewe’s latest site is designed to appeal to buyers on all rungs of the housing ladder, from first time buyers, through to downsizers and growing families looking for their dream home.

The 91 dwellings which will be let, sold and managed by Platform – made up of 30 shared ownership and 61 affordable homes – are being built with the same trademark care and attention to detail as all HarperCrewe’s projects.  The housebuilder is known for its thoughtful design and desirable homes, with buyers feeling the benefits from that extra attention to detail from the moment they move in.

Kate Ellison, Director of Land and Partnerships at Platform Housing Group said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with HarperCrewe on these much needed affordable homes in an area we value highly and is a focus for growth.

“It remains a key priority for us to keep building homes so we can give local people the opportunity to have somewhere to call their own.  I’m particularly delighted that once again we are working with a developer like HarperCrewe on this site, showing the importance that strong partnerships have in providing affordable housing options.”

Chris Walker, Managing Director for HarperCrewe said: “Creating solid relationships with reliable partners is truly a cornerstone of our business at HarperCrewe, which is why we’re delighted to work alongside Platform for the first time here at Higham Ferrers.

“Our reputation is very important to us so we choose partners carefully. Platform was a clear choice for us at Higham Ferrers, as its ethos of 'building better lives by building better homes’ fits neatly with our ambitions to deliver quality houses and thriving communities all across the Midlands and beyond.

“It’s an exciting development to be part of and is shaping up beautifully.  Higham Ferrers is an aspirational location for many homebuyers and for good reason.  We’re delighted to be delivering homes there, both through Platform and directly through HarperCrewe.

The 91 homes at Higham Ferrers will contribute towards Platform’s ambitious plans to begin work on around 1600 affordable properties this year, following the 1,534 it started in the last 12 months.  The company manages more than 49,000 homes across the Midlands and is one of the top ten affordable homes providers in the UK.

HarperCrewe has equally ambitious plans for the future, following a ‘significant strategic investment’ from TPG Angelo Gordon and Ridgeback Group, and is actively looking to acquire further land across the Midlands and beyond.

A thriving community will begin forming towards the end of the year as the first homebuyers move into their new properties.

The homes at Higham Ferrers could save buyers thousands of pounds on energy and household bills each year compared to older properties, another reason for people to look into all the benefits of buying news.
