Funding for food parcels and children’s gifts

Platform has donated £2,000 to Jigsaw Foodbank, to enable them to give special Christmas food parcels and gifts to families, who live in Matlock and the surrounding areas, who are really struggling.

Platform Housing Group’s annual Christmas Kindness Campaign will see them donate over £35,000 to support more than 50 vital, local charities like the Jigsaw Foodbank in the run-up to the festive season.

“The ongoing cost of living crisis is putting a huge amount of pressure on local charities, like the Jigsaw Foodbank, who are seeing an increase in the number of people turning to them for their vital help and support”, said Platform’s Director of Housing Operations, Lisa Fairlie. 

“Receiving a Christmas food parcel and gifts for their children will help take the pressure off finances and hopefully enable families, who are dealing with many other challenges, to enjoy Christmas.”

The Jigsaw Foodbank is a charity which provides all year round emergency support to people in need, in the form of a crisis food parcel or ongoing weekly food parcels for an agreed length of time.

Ruth Longfellow, Jigsaw Foodbank Coordinator said: “Jigsaw Foodbank is incredibly grateful to Platform Housing for the very generous donation of £2,000 which has been used to make sure that an incredible toy or gift has been provided for each child of the families we are supporting.

“Our families are aware of the incredible generosity shown, and as you can imagine there are feelings of relief and many tears as the parents discover the gifts they have been given.

“The gifts are distributed in a discreet bag along with wrapping paper and sticky tape so that the families can wrap them up and know the gift is from them.

“So, thank you Platform Housing - your generosity has really made a difference.”
