Universal Credit

In February, we sent you a letter confirming your new rent starting from April 2025, along with any service charges you need to pay.

As you receive Universal Credit it is your responsibility to inform the DWP about these changes.

Below we have put together some useful FAQs to help you understand what you need to do.

How do I inform the DWP?

If you receive Universal Credit, please:

  • Access your online DWP journal
  • Select ‘confirm your housing costs’
  • Enter the new figures outlined in your rent letter.

Please only update your journal on or after the increase date and when you receive a ‘to-do’ notification from Universal Credit, as outlined below:

  • If your rent is charged monthly you will receive a 'to do' notification on the 1 April 2025.
  • If your rent is charged weekly you will receive a 'to do' notification on the 7 April 2025.

Please note: failure to report changes may result in your housing costs being incorrectly assessed.

What do I need to do if my name is incorrect on the rent review letter, as I recently got married?

Your Universal Claim and your Tenancy both need to be in your legal name otherwise this could lead to delays in your benefit payments. It is therefore important that you let us know about any name changes, for example through marriage, divorce or legal change of name.

The quickest way to get your details updated is to complete our general enquiry online form and attach a photo of the relevant legal certificates and documentation.

What can I do if I've lost the rent letter you sent me?

It's always best to keep any letter and documents we send you in a safe place. However, if you are not able to locate the letter we sent you, we can arrange for another copy of the letter to be sent to you.

Simply email: rents@platformhg.com requesting a copy of your rent letter and confirming your name and address.
