Therapy ponies bring joy to residents

Residents at a retirement living centre in Lincolnshire enjoyed a very special visit from some equine friends.
Residents at Elizabeth Court in Louth welcomed the animals from Rainbow Dreaming last month.
The event was organised by the Age UK Over 50s Friendship Group who meet every week at Elizabeth Court.
Avril Stevenson, who runs the Over 50s group said: “We organise different activities each week for the residents at Elizabeth Court and local people in the community to take part in. They absolutely loved having the ponies visiting, the smiles on their faces said it all! The pleasure it gave them to pat and stroke the ponies and learn all about their personalities and have photos taken with them to show their family and friends was heartwarming.”
Donna Koss, one of our Retirement Housing Officers said: “This was such a special day! The ponies brought such joy to the residents. Ensuring our customers have the opportunity to get involved in a host of experiences is a key part of our roles. We can’t wait to welcome them back!”
Kaf Barriball, Managing Director at Rainbow Dreaming said: “Delivering smiles to residents in settings where they are no longer able to get out and about as much as they once could is all part of our service. We had a wonderful day at Elizabeth Court; we know just how amazing our ponies are and how much they can brighten even the dullest of days. Thanks for having us!”
The two ponies who visited Elizabeth Court were Jo – who's party tricks includes shaking hands – and Buggles, a 6 year old American Spotted Miniature horse.
Rose Weate, a resident at Elizabeth Court said: “It made my day; I could have spent all day with Buggles and Jo.”
Rainbow Dreaming is based in Skegness in Lincolnshire.
