Asbestos is a material once widely used in building construction, and if disturbed, it poses a serious health risk. At Platform Housing Group, your safety is our top priority, and we believe that by raising awareness and providing guidance about asbestos and how to identify it, we can help you protect your home.

Understanding the dangers of Asbestos and what steps to take if you encounter it in your home.

Mark Bell, Head of Building Safety, explains:

"Asbestos is not dangerous if it’s in good condition and left alone. Some people are alarmed when they discover asbestos in a building, but you should not panic as it is unlikely to be a danger to your health in most cases. If the asbestos is in good condition, undamaged, and hasn’t been disturbed, it is normally safer to leave it alone. It is only when asbestos is in poor condition or has been damaged or disturbed that the fibres could potentially be released and may be harmful to health."
