A local litter pick in Worcester is in its tenth year.

The Newtown Green litter pick was set up by ourselves and Worcester City Council is 2015.

The group – which meets monthly – is attended by between 8 and 15 people every four weeks; currently around 10 bin bags of rubbish are removed, a noticeable reduction since its inception.

Paul Edwards, our Community Engagement Officer said: ”We have been an active partner within this volunteer group and have supported it, logistically and financially, since it began.  It’s a great example of partnership working and really makes a difference to the community of Ronkswood.”

Jenny Moreton, the group’s Secretary, said: “Our monthly litter picks have always had great support from Platform and provide a great way for the community to come together to help look after our fantastic local green space.  New volunteers are always welcome to join the litter picks as well as our other activities, such as looking after our community orchard and carrying out wildlife surveys.  People can search for our Newtown Green Community Group on Facebook.”

The area is also due to benefit from new footpaths later this month, to improve the walking routes in Newtown Green.
