We have partnered with The King’s Trust to deliver its Get Into Housing programme, a transformative initiative designed to introduce young people to the rewarding career opportunities available in the housing sector.

The initiative aims to raise awareness among young people, many of whom are unaware of the broad range of careers available in housing.  Through practical work experience, skills development and personal mentoring, the programme is helping to change perceptions and support the next generation in taking their first steps into the world of work.

Participants spent time with our colleagues, gaining first hand experience of customer service operations, while developing key workplace skills.

Lisa Chatwin, our Head of Customer Contact said: “The housing sector is a vital part of our communities, yet many talented young people don’t consider it as a career option simply because they’re unaware of the opportunities available.  That’s why we have partnered with The King’s Trust through its Get Into Housing programme, to change perceptions, open doors and help young people take their first steps into the sector.”

Sarah Loveridge, our Customer Service Team Manager said: “Spending the week with the young people from The King’s Trust made me feel grateful for my role within Platform and the support I receive every day.  Their engagement throughout the entire week was amazing.  I enjoyed our conversations and it was really rewarding to know that we are contributing to their skills development and future career success.”

Jayne Pym, a Customer Service Advisor said: “It was an honour to be part of such a great process.  The young people were lovely and eager to learn about what we do at Platform.  It’s been a fulfilling experience knowing I’ve played a part in their journey, and I wish them every success, whether here at Platform or wherever their careers take them.”

The programme is more than just work experience.  It’s about building confidence, fostering ambition and breaking down the barriers that often stand in the way of young people entering the workforce.

For us, it’s also a chance to reflect on the importance of nurturing future talent.  A number of our colleagues volunteered their time to share insights into their teams and roles, making a meaningful impact on the young people’s experience.  The week concluded with a celebration day hosted by The King’s Trust, an inspiring event that highlighted just how impactful the programme has been.

In recognition of the success of this partnership, we are now looking to offer five six month fixed term contracts to all five participants.  This next step will not only provide continued support and development for the young people involved but will also bring fresh energy and new perspectives into the business.

By investing in programmes like Get Into Housing, we are helping to shape the future of the housing sector.
