Herefordshire hub offered a festive lifeline
A community project that offers a safe space for vulnerable people has been awarded a donation just in time for Christmas.
@theHub in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire has been awarded the grant.
The donation was part of our yearly community kindness campaign, which will see us support 5 local specialist organisations, charities, food banks and events across our Herefordshire communities, totalling £3,000. Overall the campaign will donate £82,135 this year.
Leah Gummery, our Community Engagement Officer said: “@theHub in Ross-on-Wye is a new recipient on our list this year and we are delighted to offer them much needed financial support for the amazing work they do in the local community. It is a safe and welcoming space for those in need; we have seen first hand how much it truly means to those who find solace in its walls.”
Milly Bolan, Director at @theHub said: “We are really humbled to receive such a wonderful donation from Platform and we would like to offer our grateful thanks. Our ethos is to empower individuals and strengthen our community but without the generous support of our partners like Platform we would be unable to provide the services that we do.”
@theHub – which opened in June 2024 - is a community project which aims to improve people’s quality of life and to help them develop essential skills. It offers a space to meet support workers and other agency staff and to access help and advice with benefits, debt, housing problems and health and addiction issues.
Other community kindness donations in Herefordshire this year include Ledbury foodbank, Hereford foodbank, The Hope Centre, Bromyard and Ethos, The Living Room.
Leah concluded: “We are also delighted to make a contribution towards @theHub’s Christmas dinner on Monday 23 December for 40 members of the community. Merry Christmas to them all!”
