Community fun day raises funds for urban farm
Tea, Talk n Tech – which takes place on a weekly basis in Ashbourne - applied to our Community Chest, a funding pot for Platform customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations to apply for if their work or project directly benefits Platform customers; all applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on its Customer Voice Panel.
The funding means the club, which is run by Connex Community Support - can continue to provide its services to the local community for the next 12 months every week.
Hayley Beresford, Digital Inclusion Co-ordinator at Connex Community Support said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this grant from Platform Housing Group. The group run by our charity helps to combat social isolation and improve wellbeing; those attending benefit from one to one support which helps build their confidence in an increasing online world. For many, the sessions are their only connection with the outside world and are vital for social interaction.”
Marion Duffy, Chief Operations Officer at Platform Housing Group said: “We are delighted to support the work of Connex Community Support; not only do they deliver invaluable digital lessons they also bring people together which real value to local communities.”
