Partnership benefits at Worcestershire wellbeing hub

Colleagues at a wellbeing hub have reported an increase in better mental health for its customers, thanks to partnership working.

We have teamed up with Droitwich Wellbeing on a number of initiatives resulting in tangible benefits for those taking part.

Pip Cavilla, the founder of at Droitwich Wellbeing Hub said: “We know from the data we collect and the conversations we have with our clients before, during and after their support that approximately 95 per cent of them report an improvement in their mental health and wellbeing.  Whilst we mainly work with people on a one to one basis, the impact of the work we do has a ripple effect on those who are connected to them.”

Droitwich Wellbeing Hub is now in its fourth year; set up as a Community Interest Company, it is a not-for-profit organisation that continues to go from strength to strength.  It is used by many partner agencies and referrers as a recognised place to signpost children, young people and adults for support with their mental health and wellbeing.

Examples include:

  • Working with Paul*, one of our customer's with a history of poor mental health; after 12 sessions, Paul confirmed that he was feeling more able to be consistent in his approach to many everyday issues including parenting.  At the start of the support, his child’s school attendance was poor but it significantly improved during the support and still remains stable;
  • Working with Gill*, another one of our customer's, who was very depressed; Gill is now seeking a place at college to gain additional skills and qualifications to help her return to work;
  • Supporting Lee*, a very vulnerable customer, with a history of poor mental health as a result of significant childhood trauma.  Lee has been very open in his feedback, to the point that before he received support from the hub, he had considered ending his own life.  Importantly, Lee now no longer feels this way.

Chris Pinson-Bradley, our Community Engagement Manager said: “We have a well established relationship with Droitwich Wellbeing Hub, particularly as it is located within an area where many of our customers live.  It is truly heartwarming to hear how effective the hub is in its local community and we will continue to support them in any way we can.”

The relationship between the two organisations saw the hub apply to our Community Chest in February 2023, a funding pot for our customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations to apply for if their work or project directly benefits our customers; all applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on its Customer Voice Panel.

Droitwich Wellbeing Hub has seen an increase in demand for its services and the nature of the referrals it receives are becoming more complex.

Pip concluded: “Our vision when we opened in 2021 was that over time the support we provide would benefit not just those individuals involved but also the wider community.  We hope that by continuing the work we do in partnership with Platform, we will carry on seeing tangible results for its customers.  The ripple effect means that they are able to be more present in their lives, leading to them valuing their surroundings and creating a more content and thriving community.

“Our thanks go to Platform for investing in us both practically and financially.  We look forward to them remaining a valuable part of the work we do.”
